Memphis, Tenn. – Memphis 901 FC announced on Monday the club has acquired goalkeeper Richard Sánchez via transfer from Hartford Athletic. The transaction was completed prior to the USL Championship roster freeze on Friday, Sept. 22, and Sánchez will be available for selection in the club’s contest against Birmingham Legion FC this Saturday.
“We are delighted to have Richard join us for the remainder of the season,” Assistant Sporting Director Caleb Patterson-Sewell said. “He will join a fantastic goalkeeping group and we look forward to his experience making a difference as we head into the postseason.”
The former Mexican international shot stopper arrives in Memphis with over 30 MLS appearances under his belt for FC Dallas and Chicago Fire. The keeper spent time with Tigres UANL in Liga MX for three seasons between his stints in Dallas and Chicago and has 16 Mexican National Team caps.
Sánchez has made 18 USL Championship appearances over the past two seasons with LA Galaxy II and Hartford.
